PSX: selling at bourse, KSE-100 down 600 points

The KSE-100 was down 590.79 points, or 0.35%, at 166,602.64 by 3:10pm on Friday, as selling picked up in the latter part of the session, Business Recorder reported. The index had gained 1,456.68 points on Thursday, closing at 167,193.44.

Selling affected several groups, including commercial banks and oil and gas exploration firms. HUBCO, MARI, PPL, MCB, MEBL, NBP and UBL were among index-heavy shares trading lower. Separately, the finance ministry forecast October 2026 inflation of 9.5% to 10.5%, citing higher food and energy costs.

Overseas markets were also under pressure, with technology shares falling in Asia amid concerns about returns on heavy artificial-intelligence investment. The report also noted losses in major US technology stocks and a steep decline in South Korea’s KOSPI. This is an intraday market update, not a closing index result.
