Profit by Pakistan Today reported that listed cement makers earned a combined Rs34.2 billion in 1QFY27, up 17% from Rs29.1 billion a year earlier. AKD Research said sector revenue also advanced 17% to Rs143.35 billion, while gross profit climbed 25% to Rs50.32 billion and the gross margin reached 35.1%. Total dispatches rose 4% to 8.57 million tonnes, with domestic volumes up 10% and exports down 20%, partly amid the Afghan border closure.
Pioneer Cement led individual earnings growth, with EPS up 73% to Rs9.7; Fauji Cement’s EPS increased 51% to Rs2.0, while Maple Leaf Cement’s rose 36% to Rs3.5. Kohat Cement, Lucky Cement, D.G. Khan Cement and Cherat Cement also reported higher EPS, although Lucky Cement’s consolidated EPS slipped 2% to Rs14.8. Combined finance costs grew 66% to Rs4.26 billion, chiefly reflecting acquisition-related borrowing, including Maple Leaf Cement’s purchase of Pioneer Cement and D.G. Khan Cement’s acquisition of Rafhan Maize Products; AKD Research retained an overweight stance on the sector.
The results connect listed cement companies’ earnings with stronger domestic sales, improved pricing and acquisition financing costs. Investors can also note that export volumes weakened even as overall dispatches increased.
