Indonesia January-September coal export volume down 10.58% annually, government data shows
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Indonesia sent 255.05 million metric tons of coal abroad between January and September, 10.58% less than in the equivalent months a year earlier, according to figures cited by Business Recorder. Despite the decline in tonnage, export earnings increased 4.86% year on year to $18.81 billion. The statistics bureau said its numbers were compiled from customs reports.
The report cautioned that the bureau’s totals might not match data from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, which relies on information submitted by mining companies. The figures therefore present two important measures of Indonesia’s coal trade, shipment volume and export value, while also noting a possible difference in reporting sources. For Pakistani market readers, the update is relevant to commodity and energy coverage because it records a change in a major coal-exporting country’s shipments and earnings. No listed Pakistani company is named in the report.
