OGDC welcomes 2nd batch of female management trainee officers
BUSINESS RECORDER • • 1 min read

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has formally welcomed 52 female graduates as the second intake of its all-female Management Trainee Officers Programme for 2026-27. The graduates come from a mix of disciplines and institutions spread across the country. Business Recorder reported that the welcome took place at a ceremony held at the Oil & Gas Training Institute (OGTI), where MD/CEO Ahmed Hayat Lak addressed the new trainees.
The initiative is presented as part of the company's diversity, equity and inclusion commitment, along with efforts to widen female participation in the energy sector. Over 52 weeks, trainees will move between classroom teaching, hands-on work, field trips, placements in different departments and mentoring. Executive Director (HR) Shahzad Safdar said the second cohort reflects lessons drawn from the first group of 36 women, who joined in July 2025.
Lak said the trainees would help OGDC on its growth path, which includes a target to double production within three years. The company also plans to keep optimising output from mature assets and to support import substitution. Safdar described the approach as a move beyond the company's comfort zone. Trainees from the first intake also spoke at the event and thanked OGDC for hands-on exposure to the sector.
