Business Recorder reported that the KSE-100 was down 1,424.71 points, or 0.86%, at 164,506.27 by 12:35pm on Thursday. Selling was reported across automobile assemblers, cement, oil and gas exploration, marketing, power generation and refinery shares.

Among the index-heavy stocks trading lower were HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, PPL, PSO, SSGC, SNGPL, HBL and UBL. The decline followed Wednesday’s 779.34-point advance, which took the index to 165,930.99 amid institutional buying and optimism about diplomatic efforts and the draft Auto Policy 2026-31.

Overseas markets were also under pressure: Asian shares outside Japan fell 0.2%, Japan’s Nikkei lost 0.4% and Korean shares declined by more than 1%. US stock futures were down 0.4%, while technology earnings offered some support to Wall Street overnight.
