Pakistan’s pharma exports fall over 30% in FY26, decline further in first quarter of FY27

Pakistan’s pharmaceutical exports generated $319.012 million in FY26, down 30.26% from $457.456 million a year earlier, according to figures reported by Profit by Pakistan Today from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Export volume also contracted, falling 26.14% to 83,104 tonnes. The industry linked much of the decline to disrupted trade with Afghanistan, previously a major destination for Pakistani medicines.
The downturn persisted in July-September FY27: export receipts slipped 25.53% year on year to $73.301 million, while volume dropped 31.40% to 16,410 tonnes. The average declared value per tonne rose to $4,469 from $4,115 in that quarter, although the report notes this can reflect a different mix of products, not necessarily higher medicine prices. Surgical goods and medical instruments are excluded from the pharmaceutical totals; their exports rose 8.8% to $121 million in the quarter.
