Indus Motor Company INDU reported profit after tax of Rs7.384 billion for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 and warned that misuse of the used-vehicle gift import scheme, alongside uncertainty over long-term automotive policy, was putting pressure on local manufacturing and investment.

The company said a rise in used-vehicle imports during the quarter had increased competition for domestic manufacturers. It said the issue could affect local production, employment, localisation and government revenue, and called for stronger enforcement of import rules and a consistent policy framework.

Indus Motor recorded net sales of Rs74.015 billion and earnings per share of Rs93.95. It sold 13,380 vehicles in the quarter, 34% more than in the same period a year earlier, and its board declared an interim cash dividend of Rs56 per share. The company attributed its financial performance to higher sales volumes, increased localisation, cost control and higher other income.

The company said demand for locally made vehicles could improve gradually over the remainder of fiscal year 2026-27. It identified higher international oil prices, geopolitical uncertainty, rising operating costs and possible exchange-rate volatility as risks to that outlook.

Indus Motor closed at Rs1,824.29 on Wednesday, October 28.
