India's top gas importer sets eyes on US LNG under long-term deal with Qatar
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

India’s Petronet LNG is discussing whether some gas supplied under its renewed Qatar contract could come from the United States, Business Recorder reported. The arrangement is due to begin in 2028 and would run for 20 years, with Qatar currently contracted to deliver 7.5 million metric tons of LNG each year.
Petronet executive Vivek Mittal said Qatar was open to considering the request and might provide part of the contracted volume from other sources. India is seeking to broaden its supply options after disruptions linked to the Iran war, while Qatar’s current force majeure on LNG deliveries is expected to continue through December. Petronet has also suspended charter arrangements for three LNG tankers amid the supply interruption.
