Pakistan's cement sales reach 4.8 million tonnes in October, highest for month in five years

Pakistan’s cement dispatches totalled 4.8 million tonnes in October 2026, the strongest October reading in five years, according to an AKD Securities report cited by Profit. The year-on-year gain was 0.4%, as domestic deliveries rose 1% to 4 million tonnes while exports fell 4% to 0.8 million tonnes.
For July-October, dispatches increased 3% to 18 million tonnes. Local sales grew 6% to 14.9 million tonnes, but exports decreased 10% to 3.1 million tonnes, with the continued Pakistan-Afghanistan border closure removing northern export volumes. Industry capacity utilisation was 67% in October, with southern producers at 93% and northern producers at 60%.
The report said cement makers’ average prices had risen 12%, or Rs167 per bag, since the Middle East conflict began, helping offset higher coal and fuel expenses. It also outlined differing coal-cost sensitivities for Lucky Cement, DG Khan Cement, Fauji Cement, Maple Leaf Cement, Cherat Cement, Pioneer Cement and Kohat Cement, while projecting domestic dispatch growth of about 8% in FY2026-27.
At a glance
- October dispatches reached 4.8 million tonnes, the highest October total in five years.
- Domestic sales rose, while exports declined amid the northern border closure.
- Higher cement prices helped offset increased coal and fuel costs.
