PM Shehbaz approves TDAP overhaul
Mettis Global • • 1 min read

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has endorsed a restructuring plan for the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), according to Mettis Global. The initiative is intended to strengthen export promotion, help Pakistani goods reach more overseas markets and prepare domestic businesses, including small and medium enterprises, to meet export requirements. The approval followed a meeting chaired by the prime minister in Islamabad.
The proposed changes include creating an end-to-end support system for agricultural exports and recruiting qualified staff through an open, merit-based process. Sharif also called for a recognised private firm to review TDAP’s finances and performance, while linking staff advancement to results. Officials presented a phased, 12-month implementation plan, with the prime minister directing that the reforms be completed by the middle of next year.
The overhaul is intended to make TDAP a modern trade-promotion institution benchmarked against international standards. The plan also includes independent evaluation after its design and rollout.
