Mettis Global • • 1 min read

An online platform for registering ships and boats is now open, enabling owners to submit applications remotely, Mettis Global reported on Nov 6, 2026. Federal Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the registration modules became available after preparations were completed. The Mercantile Marine Department handles registrations for merchant ships, fishing boats, sailing vessels and harbour craft.
Officials from the department and the State Bank of Pakistan are due to discuss adding electronic payments to the platform. The ministry expects applicants to be able to pay fees through a single online link within the next 15 days. The minister said a consolidated vessel database could also support coastal emergency planning and help authorities locate fishing communities exposed to climate risks.
