Over 15mn benefit from PM’s Fuel Relief Scheme

The government has paid out Rs27bn through the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, reaching more than 15mn people, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on November 03, 2026. He said the scheme supplies subsidised petrol to eligible motorcyclists, Qingqi rickshaw users and owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc, with payments also going to petrol pumps for fuel sold at reduced rates.
Tarar said the government had avoided a Rs15 per litre petrol price increase on the prime minister’s instructions, transferring the added cost to oil refineries, which are expected to shoulder about Rs15bn monthly. He cited pressure on energy markets from developments around the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, while saying the nationwide scheme would continue. He also said technology-based manufacturing oversight had generated an additional Rs60bn in taxes from the sugar industry.
