PSX: KSE-100 settles above 168,000 level amid optimism over US-Iran talks

The KSE-100 rose 1,454.80 points, or 0.87%, to finish Tuesday at 168,018.86, moving back above the 168,000 mark, Business Recorder reported. The index climbed to 168,469.78 in early trade before profit-taking pulled it down to 167,308.65; buying in the closing hours then helped it recover.

Analysts quoted by the publication connected the gains to hopes for progress in US-Iran talks, while cautioning that geopolitical risks remain. They said renewed diplomacy had eased international oil prices, a factor relevant to Pakistan’s import bill, current account and inflation. Investors also returned selectively to banks, exploration and production companies, and cement stocks after October’s market correction, while the report noted that sentiment could remain volatile if talks falter or oil rises again.

  • The KSE-100 gained 0.87% to close at 168,018.86.
  • The index ranged between 167,308.65 and 168,469.78 during the session.
  • Analysts linked investor optimism to expectations for US-Iran talks.
