Thai October headline CPI rises 3.90% on year, above forecast
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Thailand’s headline consumer inflation accelerated to 3.90% year on year in October, up from 2.82% in September, according to figures announced by the commerce ministry on Friday. The result was higher than the 3.24% increase expected in a Reuters poll and moved above the central bank’s stated inflation target range of 1% to 3%.
Core CPI, which leaves out energy and fresh food, increased 1.58% compared with October a year earlier. The figures therefore showed a sharper rise in the headline measure than in underlying inflation, while the headline rate also exceeded both the previous month’s reading and the target ceiling. Business Recorder reported the data from Thailand; the source provided no figures on market responses or policy changes.
