Pakistan will allow exports of excess sugar only if domestic prices remain stable, Mettis Global reported on November 05, 2026. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told officials to keep strategic stocks sufficient for local needs and prevent retail prices from rising. He also said selling surplus commodities abroad supports agriculture and brings in foreign exchange.
At a Cabinet Committee meeting, officials examined sugar inventories and domestic consumption needs, alongside steps to organise exports and complete the required administrative and technical arrangements. The committee’s work is intended to ensure export activity does not undermine local supply or price stability. Ministers and senior officials from several ministries attended the session.
