PRA’s directive to hotel owners

The Punjab Revenue Authority has instructed hotels across the province to complete installation of its Electronic Invoice Monitoring System by the end of November. Business Recorder reported that PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra delivered the instruction at a meeting with a Hotels Association delegation, where participants discussed system requirements, installation challenges and tax compliance.

The authority warned hotel operators that fake electronic receipts could lead to strict action and substantial fines. The delegation agreed to cooperate with the rollout, while PRA urged businesses to provide customers with computerised receipts and pay taxes on time. The discussions also covered bringing more of the hotel industry into the tax net and continuing consultations on sector issues.
