Nepra raises industrial tariff to Rs25.30 per unit, despite dissent
Dawn • • 1 min read

Nepra approved a revised industrial electricity support rate of Rs25.30 per unit on Friday, while allowing a separate Rs2.37-per-unit charge on November bills to recover Rs25 billion through the fuel cost adjustment. Dawn reported that the industrial rate was approved after a 2-2 split, with the chairman using his casting vote.
Two members opposed the new rate, saying the regulator’s own estimate of marginal supply cost was Rs31.83 per unit and calling for the package to be suspended until reliable data is provided. All four members said the Power Division had missed deadlines to submit revised calculations; Nepra warned that further delays could lead to suspension or termination of the package and legal proceedings. The decision affects electricity consumers, including those served by K-Electric.
