Petrol price down by Rs6.59 per litre, high-speed diesel by Rs4.25 in fifth straight reduction
Dawn • • 1 min read

The government has lowered petrol by Rs6.59 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.25, marking five reductions in succession, Dawn reported. From Nov 7 through Nov 10, pump prices will stand at Rs346 for petrol and Rs378 for HSD; the shorter validity reflects a public holiday on Nov 9.
The notification leaves substantial fuel levies in place: Rs114 per litre on petrol and Rs100 on diesel. A separate 30-day arrangement requires refineries to absorb a combined Rs15 billion contribution towards the petroleum levy, enabling a Rs14.71 reduction in petrol for consumers. HSD has fallen from its April 3 peak of Rs520.35, while petrol has retreated from Rs458.41 on the same date. The two fuels serve private transport and heavy vehicles, among other uses, so the revised rates affect household travel and transport-related costs.
