Nepra raises industrial electricity tariff to Rs25.30 per unit, approves Rs2.37 fuel adjustment

NEPRA has lifted the special industrial electricity rate from Rs22.98 to Rs25.30 per unit, while also approving a November fuel adjustment of Rs2.37 per unit. According to Profit by Pakistan Today, the adjustment is expected to let distribution companies collect about Rs25 billion through consumers’ November bills.
The industrial rate applies under a support package launched in December to encourage factories to use more electricity. NEPRA approved the change after a 2-2 vote, with Chairman Waseem Mukhtar casting the deciding vote; two members objected that the rate lacked adequate cost data and urged a pause until verified calculations were provided. The regulator also set deadlines for missing information from ISMO and PPMC, warning that failure to comply could lead to legal proceedings or the package’s suspension or termination.
At a glance
- NEPRA raised the special industrial tariff to Rs25.30 per unit.
- A Rs2.37 per-unit November fuel adjustment could recover about Rs25 billion.
