Pakistan’s water-resources research council has warned that 27 bottled-water brands failed safety checks, citing bacterial contamination or chemical readings above permitted levels. Profit by Pakistan Today reported that the findings came from PCRWR’s July-September 2026 review, which examined 223 samples gathered across 20 cities against standards set by PSQCA.
Bacteria were detected in 22 brands, while separate tests found excessive sodium, arsenic, potassium or dissolved solids in some products. Aab-e-Haram, AB-Blue Water and HR Water Healthy Life exceeded the sodium ceiling of 50 ppm; Aab-e-Haram also had 680 ppm of dissolved solids, and Fresh Smart Pure Water recorded potassium at 20 ppm. Arsenic levels in Akwafine and Premium Safa were above the 10 ppb limit. PCRWR urged buyers to consult its quarterly findings before choosing bottled water.
