PRA decides to speed up registration of new businesses

The Punjab Revenue Authority plans to accelerate new-business registrations and installation of its Electronic Invoice Monitoring System across 14 designated sectors, Business Recorder reported. PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra announced the steps at a review meeting covering the Lahore and Rawalpindi Commissionerates.

Commissionerates have been told to identify taxable services and bring them into the tax net, with targets set for system installations and enforcement teams to support registration. Sipra also called for monitoring pending tax cases and recovering outstanding dues on time, while urging business chambers and trade associations to help firms connect to the system. Businesses found issuing false receipts or altering records face strict action and a tax surcharge, including those already using the system.
