The KSE-100 was down 2,233.79 points, or 1.27%, at 173,146.07 by 9:40am on Friday, Business Recorder reported. The decline came after the index had gained 3,366.38 points on Thursday, closing at 175,379.87.
Ismail Iqbal Securities cited possible profit-taking before the long weekend, alongside geopolitical uncertainty and stalled peace talks, as factors weighing on sentiment. The report also noted that SBP reserves rose by $39 million to $21.56 billion in the week to October 30, while Pakistan’s external debt increased 4% to $135.1 billion in 2025, according to the World Bank.
The report placed the local decline against sharp losses in Asian markets, including falls of more than 8% in South Korea and Taiwan. It said worries around regulation and returns on AI investment were affecting global technology shares.
