Pioneer Cement signs deal for 15MW battery storage, 10MW solar installation

Pioneer Cement has contracted Pragmatic Engineering Solutions FZE and China’s Sungrow Power Supply to install a 15 MW / 30 MWh battery storage system and a further 10 MW of solar capacity at its Chenki plant in Khushab, Punjab. Mettis Global reported on November 6 that the company disclosed the agreement through a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The project is due to be completed by March 31, 2027.
The battery system is intended to store electricity generated by solar panels during daylight and make it available during periods of peak demand. Pioneer Cement says this arrangement is expected to support grid stability while lowering its use of grid-supplied electricity and related energy expenses. For investors, the agreement connects PIOC’s manufacturing operations with a planned investment in solar power and storage, although the report does not state the project’s cost.
