PIOC commissions 28MW solar plant, expands capacity to 31MW

Pioneer Cement Limited has completed and brought online a 28.265MW solar power plant at its Chenki manufacturing site in Khushab, Punjab, Mettis Global reported on November 03, 2026. The company has also increased the project’s planned capacity to 31MW, with the additional capacity expected to be energized within the next month.

Once fully operational, solar power is expected to supply about 45% of PIOC’s annual electricity needs. The company said the project is expected to lower power expenses, support more efficient operations and contribute to profitability and sustainability objectives. Pioneer Cement disclosed the development through a notification to the exchange, making the capacity addition relevant to investors assessing the cement producer’s operating costs and energy use.
