Uninterrupted supply of gas, water to textile industry demanded
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Business Recorder reported that All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association Karachi regional vice chairman Muammad Rizwan Lakhani has called on the government to secure steady gas and water supplies for textile processors and bring electricity charges closer to levels in competing countries. He said recurring utility shortages and higher power bills are pushing up manufacturing costs and making Pakistani products less competitive internationally.
Lakhani also cited rising global petroleum prices as a factor behind more expensive dyes and chemicals, adding pressure on processors and their ability to meet export orders. His proposals include predictable energy tariffs, reviewing electricity surcharges, supporting renewable power, building water recycling facilities, and offering financing for modern equipment. He also called for machinery import concessions, timely export refunds and consultation on a long-term industrial policy.
