Step-by-step guide: How to amend or cancel FBR e-invoice after 72 hours
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Business Recorder reports that taxpayers can now seek FBR approval to correct or void eligible electronic sales tax invoices after the usual 72-hour window has passed. The request is made through the IRIS portal and requires review by the relevant Commissioner Inland Revenue; changes are not applied automatically. Applicants must identify the invoice, choose correction or cancellation, and provide supporting files in PDF format.
The procedure is meant for errors found later, but several limits apply: invoices already tied to a sales tax or Federal Excise Return, or covered by another application, are excluded. While officials consider a request, the taxpayer cannot file Annexure-C; if approval follows, the amended invoice can be used there subject to system checks. If refused, the original invoice remains in place, and tax officers may request further details through IRIS before deciding.
At a glance
- Taxpayers may request FBR approval to amend or cancel eligible invoices beyond 72 hours.
- Applications require supporting documents and review by the relevant tax authority.
- A pending request prevents submission of Annexure-C until a decision is made.
