Disney eyes thousands of layoffs, asks managers to target 20% savings, Bloomberg News reports
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Walt Disney is weighing job cuts numbering in the thousands and has asked some managers to identify annual savings equal to 20% of costs, Bloomberg News reported, according to Business Recorder. The report did not give a potential headcount figure, and Disney had not responded to a Reuters request for comment.
The review comes amid pressure from artificial intelligence, softer film revenues, streaming competition and fewer international visitors to its theme parks. CEO Josh D’Amaro reportedly plans to direct some savings back into film and television, technology, parks and cruise operations. Disney had about 231,000 employees at the end of fiscal 2025, following earlier workforce reductions that included 7,000 roles in 2023.
