North Korea rejects US allegation over Binance crypto heist

North Korea has denied US claims that it was behind a $6.3 billion cryptocurrency theft from Binance, while the exchange expanded withdrawals for clients. Business Recorder reported that Binance customers had withdrawn a net $4.72 billion by Monday after withdrawals were paused for more than two days following the heist.

Binance said deposits were exceeding withdrawals by the hour on Tuesday and described user activity and fund flows as improving. It also introduced fee rebates and rewards for eligible traders, alongside returns of up to 10% on some products, in a campaign running through November 21. Elliptic estimates North Korea stole $7.6 billion in cryptocurrency this year, while Chainalysis attributed 89% of crypto hack losses in 2026 to the country.
